GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Five different Griffins scored on Saturday to defeat Cairn, 5-0.  With the win Gwynedd Mercy now has won seven games in a row and improved to 6-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference play.

Freshman Meghan Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) put GM on the board with her goal at the 12:59 mark in the first half.  Petroski found the back of the net when the ball was placed on her foot the six-yard line from Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Villa Joseph Marie).  The Griffins (8-4, 6-1 CSAC) would hold the 1-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Gaughan got the offense started in the second half, beating the Cairn keeper to put Gwynedd on top 2-0 with her rip inside the eighteen at the 47:57 mark. The Griffins would strike again this time as junior Theo Horozoglou (Holland, Pa. / Council Rock South) put home a rebound that bounced off the post and found her foot in front of the cage. 

Kerri Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) would make it 4-0 when her direct kick from twenty yards out found the goal at the 62:54 mark. Diamond Devereaux (Oreland, Pa. / Springfield) capped the scoring with the fourth Griffin goal of the stanza and the first of her collegiate career when she deflected the ball into the goal on a pass from Ariety Fellenz (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Liberty).

The Gwynedd back line held Cairn shotless to give goalie Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) her third shutout of the season.  Tadley's counterpart Mackenzie Paugh made three saves for the Highlanders (3-6-1, 2-3-1 CSAC).

The Griffins will return home on Wednesday to square off against Cabrini at 6 p.m. Both teams are tied for first place in the CSAC with perfect 6-0 records.
