GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Muhlenberg defeated Gwynedd-Mercy 2-0 on Saturday afternoon spoiling the 2013 home opener for the Griffins.

The Mules were able to capitalize on two late first half corner kicks both played by Krissy Fioretti. Her first corner found teammate Colleen Touhey to put Muhlenberg on top 1-0. The later found the foot of Nicole Karsch who then played a perfectly placed ball to Abby Lazofsky to put her team up for good 2-0 heading into the break.

The Griffins were able to play an even second half with the Mules but were unable to cut into their deficit.

Sophomore goalie Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) made five phenomenal saves in net for the Griffins. Jen Mermelstein and Francesca Cobuzzi recorded a combined shutout for Muhlenberg.

The Griffins return back to action on Tuesday heading down 309 to face Arcadia. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
