Gwynedd Mercy 2, Stevenson 1
BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy stretched their winning streak to four games with a 2-1 victory over Stevenson Tuesday afternoon.
Senior forward
Dan Panepresso (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) struck again, scoring the eventual winning goal in the 71st minute. He netted the overtime winner on Saturday in a 1-0 win at Widener for his second game-winner in as many games.
Both teams fought through a scoreless first half, where the Griffins (4-6) had three shots to the Mustang's nine. Sophomore
Brandon Rodriguez (Eden, Md./Parkside) would get GM on the board with his first score of the season at the 51:54 mark. A free kick from junior
Ryan Roedel (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) just inside the Stevenson half, found its way to the foot of Rodriguez who was able to shoot over Mustang goalie Ryan Callinan.
Stevenson (4-4-1) would be able to tie the game at 1-1 in the 65th minute as a shot from Nico Garcia from 25 yards out was initially stopped by
Ryan Oyola (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca), but the momentum caromed off his hands and inside the net.
Oyola would rebound with some key saves in the half, and get some help from the goal cage as Stevenson hit the post twice and the crossbar, the last coming with under four minutes in the game. He finished with six saves on the day. Callinan totaled three.
Panepresso would then notch his seventh career game-winning goal as he was able to get under a ball sent into the Stevenson half and set himself up on two touches for a blast into the left corner.
The Griffins will welcome Manhattanville here on Saturday in a 3 p.m. start.
