BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy notched their first win of the season in an 8-1 win over Penn State-Berks Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Trevor Sotell (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) recorded his second career hat trick while adding an assist. He was one of three Griffins to score more than once. Brother Kevin Sotell added two scores while Tyler Ward (Philadelphia, Pa./North Catholic) found the back of the net twice as GM (1-6) built a 5-0 first-half lead.

The Griffins dominated the Nittany Lions (0-6), with a 25-9 shooting edge.

The freshmen goalie combination of Ryan Oyola (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) and Ryan Costello (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) combined to make three saves.

Their bid for the shutout was foiled with 8:35 left as PSU's Connor Mastricola converted on a penalty kick.

Sophomore Rich Mychack (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) also tallied for GM. Junior Ryan Roedel (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) added a personal-best two assists.

Gwynedd Mercy will get right back at it here on Thursday when they host Bryn Athyn in a 4 p.m. start.
