BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A pair of goals exactly two minutes apart early in the second half allowed visiting Washington College to exit with a 2-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Chris Lewandowski gave the Shoremen (4-1) a 1-0 lead as he found a loose ball off a corner kick and was able to beat GM goalie
Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J./Phillipsburg). It became 2-0 and the 52:53 mark when Lewandowski took a short feed into the box, was able to get around a defender and fins the back of the net.
Gengaro made eight saves in nearly 60 minutes of work. Sophomore
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) came on and would register one save.
GM was outshot 15-5, but had a prime scoring chance late in the first. After a free kick in the offensive zone from 30 yards out, freshman
Kevin Sotell (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) was able to get behind the Shoremen defense but his shot hit the outside of the left post.
Gwynedd Mercy will take on Penn State-Berks here at the GM Athletic Complex on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
