DOVER, DE. -- A pair of freshmen combined for a late goal to force overtime as the Griffins and Wesley battled to a 1-1 tie Saturday evening.
Rookie
Caitlin Duddy (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) netted her first collegiate tally with a score in the 73rd minute with an assist from fellow freshman
Ariety Fellenz (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty).
Both teams were scoreless after the first 45 minutes before the Wolverines struck in the 64th minute on a goal from Chelsi Biener.
Each team would register two shots apiece in the extra sessions. Overall, Wesley would outshoot GM, 17-7, for the game.
Sophomore
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) made nine saves in goal. Wesley keeper Samantha Branningan recorded one.
Gwynedd-Mercy (0-1-1) gets back in action against Delaware Valley with a new date, now scheduled for Tuesday in a 5 p.m. start.
