BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, Gwynedd Mercy had their postseason hopes come to an end as the Griffins came up short in a 2-1 loss to Rosemont Saturday morning.

After an even first half where each team fired off five shots, the Griffins (3-10-4, 3-4-3 CSAC) would fall behind by not one, but two goals in a four-minute span early in the second.

Minutes later, after Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) was taken down in the box, Gwynedd was awarded a penalty kick, where Maura Gifford (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) buried her fourth career attempt to make it a one-goal contest.

Lauren Whelan and Taylor Mohr scored goals for the Ravens (11-5, 9-1 CSAC), who clinched the top playoff seed with the win.

Goalies Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and Jenna Kaiser each had three saves.

The Griffins will close out the season on Thursday night when they travel to Immaculata in a 7 p.m. start.
