Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day With Big Win

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy celebrated senior day with a 7-0 victory over Cedar Crest Saturday afternoon for their third-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference victory all coming by the shutout.

Prior to the game, the Griffins honored their four seniors: Maura Gifford (North Wales, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic), Gina Febbo (Sewell, N.J. / Paul VI), Michelle Pool (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) and Alyssa Figueroa (Sewell, N.J. / Clearview).

Junior Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Villa Joseph Marie) had a career day on the offensive attack, recording her first career hat trick scoring a goal in the first half and a pair in the second. Gifford also had a phenomenal day, scoring two goals and adding a pair of assists. Gifford's two goals closed out the first half scoring for GM (3-9-3, 3-3-2 CSAC).

Sophomores Kerri Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) and Theo Horozoglou (Holland, Pa. / Council Rock South) each added a goal as well.

Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) made one save for her third-straight clean sheet. Her counterpart Kristina Brandveen stopped eleven shots for the Falcons (3-12, 1-7 CSAC).

The Griffins, who have climbed back into playoff contention, will host Marywood on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
