GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – The Griffin Men's Soccer Team fell, 3-0, to Alvernia in the home opener Wednesday evening.
Gwynedd-Mercy was outshot, 19-5, in the contest but had a 5-3 corner kick edge.
The Crusaders' Kyle Martyn and R.J. Fisher each had a goal and an assist in the win. Martyn put Alvernia (2-0-1) on the board in the 15th minute as he took a cross from 20 yards out and fired a shot past GM goalie

Fisher set up Alex Martyn in the 24th minute as a pass sent across the goal mouth hit off Martyn's foot and deflected in, giving AU a 2-0 lead at the break.
Fisher then added his own goal as he took a feed from Kyle Martyn on a breakaway and score in the 65th minute.
Chilcote made six saves for Gwynedd. Alvernia keeper Ben Diller made one to record the shutout.
The Griffins will travel to Haverford College this weekend for the Jimmy Mils Classic. Gwynedd will take on the host Fords on Saturday at 1 p.m. then take on Ursinus on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
