BOX SCORE
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy suffered a tough 1-0 defeat in double overtime to DeSales Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs' Melissa Pugliese headed in a free kick with just 3:07 left in the extra session as the Griffins (3-6-1) are now winless in their last three.
Gwynedd was outshot, 15-6, in regulation time and 4-0 in both overtimes. GM had a prime chance to score in the 73rd minute when senior
Christine Michalski (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) worked her way through the DeSales defense with goalie Talyor Cowan charging out from net. Her dribble around the keeper gave Michalski enough space to shoot, but her attempt went across the goal mouth wide.
Freshman goalie
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) kept the Griffins in it, posting nine saves on the night.
Cowan, who entered the game at the start of the second half, was credited with one save. Teammate Alex Bastinelli started for DSU (5-4-1) and saw two shots.
The Griffins look to get back on track when they host Cabrini here in a CSAC matchup starting at noon.
