DALLAS, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy looked to overcome an early two-goal deficit but eventually fell at Misericordia, 3-2, as both teams kicked off their 2012 seasons.

All five goals were scored in the first half as the Cougars went ahead 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the contest.

Junior Sarah Jackson (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) put the Griffins on the board with an unassisted score at the 10:24 mark and then later set up junior Erin Gorenflo (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) to tie the game with 12 minutes left in the half.

Terra Hall would notch her second score of the day for Misericordia in the 31st minute for a 3-2 lead which stood up to be the final score.

The Griffins did all they could in the second half, outshooting the Cougars, 13-4, but could not get past MU goalie Grace Riker. Riker would make nine saves on the night, with six coming in the second stanza. GM goalie Kelly Kruk (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) saw a total of eight shots and recorded one save.

GM held a 14-2 penalty corner edge.
