RADNOR, PA. – The defending CSAC Champions were knocked out of the conference tournament falling, 16-13, at Cabrini in semifinal action Wednesday night.
The Griffins, who used a late burst at the end of the first half to take a 10-8 halftime lead, were held to just three goals in the second stanza.
Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) had three goals and
Morgan Hosler (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) had three assists but third-seeded Gwynedd will not make the championship game for the first time in three seasons.
Sarah Means recorded six goals and two assists for the second-seeded Cavaliers (9-8) while teammate Janel Folkomer made 15 saves in goal.
The teams were neck and neck for the first 13 minutes of the game with neither team leading by more than two goals. Means' goal with 10:33 left in the stanza gave Cabrini an 8-6 edge. That's when the Griffins scored the final four of the period, with tallies from freshman
Rachel Irons (Delran, N.J./Delran) and junior
Jenna Gaydosh (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and the last two by Dowling to take a 10-6 at the break.
GM outshot the Cavs, 32-31, but Cabrini held a 25-19 groundball and 18-13 draw control edge.

Marina Hubbard (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) made six saves.
Irons, Gaydosh, along with seniors
Shannon Carabba (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield) and
Jenna D'Arcy (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and sophomore
Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) each had two goals apiece.
The loss marks the end of eight Griffins who accumulated postseason berths with two ECAC appearances, a CSAC Championship and NCAA Tournament Game. Dowling, Hosler, Carabba, D'Arcy,
