Centenary 2, Gwynedd-Mercy 1

BOX SCORE

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.  -- Gwynedd-Mercy had their playoff chase come to an end in falling, 2-1, to Centenary in the season ender on Saturday.

The Griffins, needing a win and some help from other teams, looked to secure a postseason bid in the CSAC Tournament but came up short in their quest.

After a goal from junior Dan Panepresso (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the first half, the Cyclones would answer in the second on two quick goals from Joseph Bachmann that were scored 28 seconds apart.

The goal was Panepresso's sixth on the year.

The squad, who took eight shots in the first half, was credited with five in the second. The Cyclones (8-8-1, 3-5-1 CSAC) took 15 of their 24 shots in the second half as well.

Freshman goalie Greg Gengaro (Roxbury, N.J./Phillipsburg) tried to keep Gwynedd in the contest, making 10 saves. Centenary keeper Jesse Goleman recorded three stops.

Gwynedd-Mercy finishes the season with a 6-12-2 and 2-5-2 conference mark.
