BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Immaculata, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in an important CSAC regular season game. With the win the Griffins improve to 3-2-2 in league play and move closer to securing a playoff bid.

The Griffins (6-7-2, 3-2-2 CSAC) got on the board early when junior Maura Gifford (North Wales, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic) played a short corner ball to senior Meghan Bojanowski (Philadelphia, Pa. / St. Hubert) who buried her shot into the back of the net to give GM a 1-0 advantage heading into the half.

Five minutes into the second, Bojanowski found herself on a breakaway from a beautiful pass by freshman Megan Gifford (North Wales, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic) for her second tally of the day, giving the Griffins a 2-0 edge. Three minutes later, the Griffins found themsleves on the offensive again. The Mighty Macs were unable to clear a ball out their box and got called for a hand ball. This set up Maura Gifford to put away her penalty shot to put GM up for good 3-0.

GM outshout Immaculata (2-9-2, 2-3-2 CSAC), 17-4, and held a 6-1 corner advantage.

Freshman Keeper Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) recorded two saves for her fifth clean sheet of the season. Her counterpart Meghan McCurnin stopped seven shots for the Mighty Macs.

The women's soccer returns home on Tuesday to host Cairn University for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Griffins will be honoring three seniors Bojanowski, Justine Bednarz and Christine Michalski in their Senior Night festivities.
