GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA -- Men's Soccer won their second consecutive game defeating Valley Forge Christian College, 8-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins were led by junior
Trevor Sotell (Cinnaminson, N.J. / Cinnaminson) who recorded his first career hat trick on the day and suprassed his single-game point total that he set on Tuesday.
GM (4-10-1, 1-3-1 CSAC) got on the board at the 20:09 mark when freshman
Seth Lindner (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) buried a penalty shot for his first collegiate goal to put Gwynedd up 1-0. Eleven minutes later, Lindner found Sotell who connected on his first tally of the day to put GM up 2-0. Sotell would add his second goal with just 22 seconds remaining in the half to give the Griffins a 3-0 cushion at the break.
The Griffins kept the pressure on in the second half as freshman
Rich Mychack (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) scored his first collegiate goal to put Gwynedd on top 4-0. Under two minutes later, Sotell set up fellow junior
Christian Pembroke (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) who found the back of the net.
Sotell capped his scoring spree one minute later as he would beat the VFCC keeper Brian Peterson with a beautiful chip shot just underneath the cross bar to complete the hat trick
Junior
Ryan Moffatt (Philadelphia, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) would join in on the action, scoring at the 62nd minute. Freshman
Brandon Rodriguez (Eden, Md. / Parkside) would cap the scoring, putting in his first collegiate goal with 22:58 showing. In total, the Griffins scored five second half goals in an eleven minute and four second span.
GM outshot the Patriots (0-13), 39-2, and held a 12-1 corner advantage.
Freshman keeper
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) recorded one save her his second consecutive shutout. Peterson stopped nine for Valley Forge.
The Griffins return to action on Monday night hosting Penn State-Abington in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
