GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins captured their second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference victory by defeating Keystone College 7-2 on their homecoming matchup.
The Griffins used five first half goals en route to the win. Sophomore
Maura Gifford (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) gave GM their first goal just five minutes into the contest. Junior
Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) followe, adding the first of her two goals on the day in the 16th minute on an assist from fellow junior
Christine Michalski (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara). Michalski then got into the scoring act, tallying the next goal for the Griffins to give them a 3-0 advantage.
Gwynedd's next two goals came from freshman
Danielle Hertzog (Reading, Pa./Antietam) to give them a 5-1 lead heading into halftime. Senior
Gwen Conte (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) closed out the scoring, adding a goal in the 66th minute. Conte also contributed a career-best three assists.
Alysa Borick and Kimberly Gee netted goals for the Giants (3-3-1, 0-3 CSAC).
Dowling and Hertzog totaled two scores apiece while Gifford and Michalski added two assists each
The Griffins (2-6-1, 2-1 CSAC) outshout Keystone, 29-5, and held a 7-0 corner kick edge.
Senior goalkeeper
Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) record three saves in the win. Keystone keeper Rebecca Dinelli posted 12.
The Griffins look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Baptist Bible College on Tuesday in a CSAC showdown starting at 4 p.m.
