GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy used three different goal scorers and the defense clamped down en route to a 3-0 season-opening win over Delaware Valley Thursday night.

Senior goalie Mike Leonard (Glen Mills, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) notched his sixth career shutout as he made six saves.

Sophomore Dan Panepresso (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) got the Griffins on the board in the eight minute, tallying the game's first goal.

It stayed that way until late in the contest as goals from senior Tim Sweeney (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and sophomore Tyler Ward (Philadelphia, Pa./North Catholic) in the last six minutes of the contest, helped to seal the outcome.

The teams were even with eight shots apiece.

DVC keeper D.J. Meisinger had three saves for the Aggies.

The Griffins travel to Wilkes this Saturday in a 7 p.m. start.
