EWING, N.J. -- Gwynedd-Mercy had their season come to a close in falling to top-ranked College of New Jersey, 17-0, in a first-round game of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
The Griffins had their hands full against the undefeated Lions, the #1 team in the IWLCA Top 25 Poll. TCNJ would dart out to a 7-0 lead just five minutes into the contest.
Kathleen Notos and Alison Jaeger each netted four goals to pace the Lions (18-0).
Gwynedd was outshot, 21-4. Senior
Colleen Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) had three of the four shots.
Senior goalie
Trisha Timony (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) recorded four saves. TCNJ keeper Mary Waller made three stops.
It was the last game for the team's four seniors, Dellostretto, Timony,
Kristi Mackin (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and
Kristie Pollock (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville). The four have combined for a 43-31 record, three CSAC Championship Game appearances, two ECAC Tournament berths, an NCAA Tournament bid, and one conference title.
