ASTON, PA. -- Neumann knocked out Gwynedd-Mercy in a 2011 CSAC Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinal Game in double overtime, 1-0, to end the Griffin's season.     It was the first ever playoff matchup between the Griffins and the Knights.

Gwynedd-Mercy gave the top-seeded Knights, the defending CSAC champs, all they could handle for over 100 minutes but Neumann found the back of the net off the head of Shawn Kee at the 106:22 minute mark of a corner kick from Evan Morgan.

The Griffins, coming off a 3-0 victory first-round victory over Cabrini on Tuesday, could not capitalize on opportunities throughout the game with Neumann goalie Bob Mastrillo keeping GM off of the scoreboard for the second time this season. Gwynedd showed much improvement from the time the teams met in early October when the Knights won, 3-0.

Neumann (12-4) outshot the Griffins 22-11 also holding an 8-2 corner kick advantage.

Senior goalkeeper Mike Leonard (Glen Mills, Pa / Cardinal O'Hara) recorded eight saves in the loss. Mastrillo recorded five to preserve the shutout.

Gwynedd will say farewell to seniors Leonard, defender Ryan Bozarth (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge), defender Michael Genna (Ijamsville, Md. / Urbana) and forward Tom Reed (Croydon, Pa. / Conwell-Egan).

Gwynedd Mercy finshes the season at 7-14 and will look to build on their strong regular season finish with 10 starters returning next season.
