CENTER VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy suffered a 2-1 non-league defeat Tuesday afternoon as DeSales scored the eventual go-ahead goal in the 87th minute.

Down 1-0 in the second half, the Griffins (2-7-2) used a late goal themselves to get on the scoreboard. Senior Gwen Conte (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) scored on a penalty kick in the 77th minute for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Brady Walsh put the Bulldogs (2-8-1) up 1-0 late in the first half putting in a rebound from a shot off the crossbar as DeSales had a 13-5 shot advantage in the stanza.

After Conte's goal, Walsh then set up the eventual game-winner, feeding Lydia Younger at the 86:58 mark beating GMC keeper Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).

Reed finished with seven saves on the day.

Gwynedd-Mercy hosts Centenary in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matcup this Saturday beginning at noon.
