RADNOR, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy suffered a 2-0 defeat to Cabrini in quarterfinal action, eliminating the Griffins from the 2011 CSAC Women's Soccer Tournament Monday evening.

The Cavaliers scored a goal early in the contest and added the second late in the game. Gwynedd was outshout, 20-6, and had five corner kicks to Cabrini's 14.

Griffin goalie Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) made seven saves as GM was knocked out of the first round
for the second-straight year. Her counterpart, Maddy Edwards, recorded five stops for Cabrini.

The loss marks the end of core of seniors on the team. Reed, Amelia Garris (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett), Kasey Reid (Mercerville, N.J./Steinert), Kirstyn Varas (Essington, Pa./Interboro), Melissa Maguire (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), Kaitlyn Brassell (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Nazareth Academy), Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower), and Gwen Conte (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace).
