GALLOWAY, N.J. -- A penalty kick goal in the 68th minute of the second half was the difference as Gwynedd-Mercy fell, 2-1, at Richard Stockton in non-league action on Saturday.

The loss was the Griffins' first in four games, dropping them to a 5-9-3 overall record. The Ospreys go to 10-5-3 on the season.

Gwynedd fell behind 1-0 in the 34th minute but looked to rally in the seond half as senior Kirstyn Varas (Essington, Pa./Interboro) put in her first goal of the season later in the 56th minute to knot it up at 1-1.

Richard Stockton out shot GM, 29-5, but the game stayed even until a foul in the box set up a penalty kick where Jess McQuillen beat goalie Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).

Reed tallied 11 saves on the day while Osprey keeper Sarah Hinkle made two.

With two conference games remainng, the Griffins can clinch a playoff spot with one win. They'll get a chance on Thursday when they host Neumann, currently in first place, in a 7 p.m. start.
