GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy stretched their unbeaten streak to four games with a 6-1 CSAC win over visiting Philadelphia Biblical on a rainy Wednesday.
The game was originally scheduled in Langhorne as a home game for PBU, but moved due to the inclement weather.
Senior
Gwen Conte (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) paced the offense with two goals and two assists.
Kasey Reid (Mercerville, N.J./Steinert) added a score and an assist as the Griffins (5-8-3, 5-2-2 CSAC) raced out to a 4-0 first-half lead.
Reid made it 1-0 just 2:21 into the contest as she one-touched a chip shot over PBU goalie Sara Poole. Junior
Meghan Bojanowski (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) found the back of the net six minutes later as she skillfully headed in a corner kick. It was 3-0 when sophomore
Michelle Pool (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) sent a short cross in but a deflection off a PBU defender careemed into the goal. Conte rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick in the 28th minute.
Conte struck again in the 50th minute and would later set up a nice header to senior
Brigid Dowling (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) in the 68th minute.
Despite outshooting the Crimson Eagles, 29-1, their one shot went for a goal, as Naomi Collip broke the shutout attempt from senior goalie
Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) at the 72:42 mark.
Poole finished with eight saves for PBU (3-13, 1-9 CSAC).
The Griffins resume action on Saturday with a non-league game at Richard Stockton at 3 p.m.
