GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy used four first-half goals and did not look back in a 6-1 win over Rosemont in a Colonial States Athletic Conference
tilt Monday evening.
Junior
Meghan Bojanowski (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) recorded her first career hat trick to help pace the offense. Senior
Kasey Reid (Mercerville, N.J./Steinert) added two scores and an assist while junior
Christine Michalski (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) also tallied for the Griffins (4-8-3, 4-2-2 CSAC).
GM peppered the Ravens (3-7-1, 2-5-1 CSAC) with 16 shots in the first half and 14 in the second.
Reid netted the game's two scores in the first 17 minutes of the contest. Her first came at the 3:12 mark as she beat Rosemont keeper Gina Donnelly on a flick shot. Her second came at the 16:33 mark as she nicely headed in a cross into the box off the foot of senior
Melissa Maguire (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan).
Bojanowski and Michalski added goals later in the half to stake GM to a 4-0 lead.
Amanda Botbyl spoiled the shoutout as she took a pass from teammate Katherine Reppert in the 68th minute to put the Ravens on the board. The goal ended a scoreless 258-minute streak for Gwynedd keeper
Abby Reed (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) who posted shutouts in a win at Baptist Bible and a scoreless tie at Cabrini last week.
Reed would finish with three saves. Donnelly recorded nine.
Sophomore
Maura Gifford (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and freshman
Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) also had an assist.
The Griffins return to action on Wednesday with another conference matchup in their quest for a playoff spot. GM will play at Philadelphia Biblical at 3:30 p.m.
