John Magee, no stranger to CSAC Tennis, joins the men’s and women’s tennis coaching staff after spending nine seasons as the head coach at rival Cabrini. He helped guide the Cavaliers to four consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) team titles from 2004-07.
Magee has totaled a 104-45 overall record at the Cabrini helm. He owns a 79-14 mark in conference play.
Under his tutelage he has guided two CSAC Players of the Year in Jennifer Keller in 2004 and Dina DiTaranto, now a coach at Cabrini, earned the honor the following season. Additionally, Magee has coached three CSAC Rookies of the Year. Carolyn Wilson received the distinction in 2004 before DiTaranto in 2005. Two years following, Stephanie Tighe was named the league’s top rookie.
Magee is a four-time CSAC Coach of the Year recipient, last earning the honor in 2010. He has led the Cavaliers to six first-place finishes at the women’s individual championships.
Magee is a certified teaching instructor with the U.S. Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR). He has taught in the Hatfield Community Tennis Program, worked for the Bucks County Tennis Association and currently serves as the tennis pro at the Buckingham Racquet Club in Bucks County.
Currently, Magee completed the advanced college coaching course (Tennis University II) taught by Dennis Van der Meer at the prestigious Van der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. and attended many workshops conducted by the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA).
Also, during the summer months, he serves as a volunteer instructor with the “Touch of Tennis”, an annual summer clinic for children with special needs run jointly with GMC Head Coach Jim Holt right here on campus.
