Ron Smull begins his 12th season as head coach for Gwynedd-Mercy after serving as an assistant in 2006.

Smull guided the Griffins to playoff berths in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. The 2008 team earned an ECAC Tournament bid and he guided a third-team all region player in Jayme DiLeonardo. In 2016, he guided Gwynedd to a 26-11 record, the program record for most wins in a season. The Griffins have placed more than 30 players on the All Conference teams, four All-ECAC teams and more than 40 players on the All-Academic teams. He has been involved with coaching all levels of softball, including travel teams, and baseball for more than 22 years.

In 2013, the team made a return to the postseason. This time as a #4 seed, where they advanced to the double elimination round. The team posted a 20-16 record including a nine-game winning streak. The team would repeat playoff appearances in 2014 and 2015. The 2015 squad entered the playoffs as a #6 seed and would go on to upset #3 Centenary in the first round.

In addition to his lengthy involvement with coaching, Smull has over 23 years of experience in upper management in the construction field, as well as, experience in marketing and sales.

Smull lives in Warminster, Pa. with his wife Beth, and has three children. His twin daughters, Jenn and Rachel, who he coached as former Griffins and a son, C.J., who also attended Gwynedd Mercy and now assists with the softball program.
