Saves and Assist Land Swartley On AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/28/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior goalkeeper Aubron Swartley (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) earned a spot on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll for his play in the Griffins 0-2 week versus Messiah University (L, 9-13 on Mar. 23) and Arcadia University (L, 7-14 on Mar. 26). The Griffin net minder totaled 31 saves, seven ground balls, and an assist as he located sophomore attack Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) with a long clear for Gwynedd Mercy University’s first goal (1-1, 12:15 1QTR) of a 14-7 loss to Arcadia University (Mar. 26).

On Wednesday, March 23, a 5-2 third-quarter spread proved to be the difference at Messiah University (4-4) as the Falcons separated from a narrow 6-5 halftime lead to defeat Gwynedd Mercy University (2-5) by a 13-9 final margin. In goal, Swartley (2-3) took the loss despite nine saves and a ground ball.

On Saturday, March 26, nor wind, nor rain, nor hail, took away from the competition on the turf as a 6-2 (2:07) Arcadia University (4-3) first quarter gave the visitors the early advantage and an eventual 14-7 victory. Gwynedd Mercy University shared the ball well as nine different Griffins recorded at least a point in the seven-goal game. Worth mention were the Griffins' first (1-1, 12:15 1QTR) and second-to-last tallies (13-6, 8:38 4QTR); the first saw Swartley find Eide with a long clear, while the penultimate saw senior defenseman Brendan Donovan (Fort Bragg, N.C.) put the Arcadia University goalkeeper out of position and find sophomore midfielder Tyler Long (Downingtown, Pa.) for an empty netter. Swartley's (2-4) first career assist came with 22 saves and six ground balls.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the GMercyU Athletic Complex on Wednesday, March 30, when they host Susquehanna University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
