Cruz Named AEC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, Scheitrum Record Recognized on Honor Roll
Lancaster, Pa. – (4/16/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior Victor Cruz (New Castle, Del.) scored six points in the Griffins’ 18th-place finish (18th of 25, 7 points) at the Messiah University Invitational with his third-place finish (3rd, 49.75) in the 400-Meter; the performance earned Cruz his second Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award. He was joined on the report by freshman Tyson Scheitrum (Harrisburg, Pa.), who garnered a mention on the AEC Men’s Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll with his record 39.18-Meter throw in the Discus.
Opposite Cruz, Immaculata University junior Dylan Crews (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the AEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Scheitrum was joined on the AEC Men’s Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll by Pratt Institute junior Andrew Weiss (West Hartford, Conn.) as well as Marywood University junior Joseph Cardillo (Dunmore, Pa.) and senior Kelechi Nwokedi (Baltimore, Md.).
The Gwynedd Mercy University men's track and field team returns to action on Sunday, April 27 (9:30 a.m.), when they welcome local rivals for the GMercyU Last Chance Meet.
