Horner Slugs for Second AEC Baseball Player of the Week Title, Scott Scores Third Honor Roll Mention

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/24/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University sophomore infielder Ryan Horner (Cinnaminson, N.J.) continued to rake, while manning the hot corner as he drew a walk and went 6-for-13 to produce three runs and six runs-batted-in (RBI) during Gwynedd Mercy University’s 3-0 week against Rosemont College (W, 10-5 on Mar. 19), Notre Dame of Maryland University (W, 14-0 (7) on Mar. 20), and #21 Gettysburg College (W, 6-4 on Mar. 21). As a result, he was named the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Meanwhile, freshman pitcher/utility Brayden Scott (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned a spot on the AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by striking out two Bullets and holding them to just three runs on seven hits and two walks.

Opposite Horner, Immaculata University sophomore Alex LePage (Cinnaminson, N.J.) was named the AEC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Scott was joined on the AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University fifth-year infielder Steven Theisen (Garnet Valley, Pa.), Neumann University senior outfielder/pitcher Chris Balshuweit (Binghamton, N.Y.) and senior outfielder Thomas Carroll (Woodbury, N.J.), as well as Marywood University junior center fielder Christian Michak (Kingston, Pa.) and junior outfielder/pitcher Max Ryan (Corona, Calif.).

Horner went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs, and two RBI in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 10-5 win over Rosemont College, and he stayed hot with two hits (2-for-4) and three RBI in the 14-0, seven-inning win over Notre Dame (MD), before going 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI in the 6-4 triumph over Gettysburg College. He is currently tied for the team lead in hits (26) and triples (3), and solely in the team lead for total bases (34). In addition to his March-3 AEC Player of the Week honor, Horner was named to the AEC Weekly Honor Roll on February 24.

Scott has impressed in his debut season as the Griffin freshman has gone 3-0 in five starts. He has held Gwynedd Mercy University’s opponents to 15 earned runs on 37 hits and eight walks, while striking out 21 of them over 31.0 innings. This is his third AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention this season with prior honors (Feb. 24, Mar. 3) coming after his first two wins.

Gwynedd Mercy University looks to continue their winning ways on Tuesday, March 25, when they host #9 Salisbury University for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
