Devine Represents Red and Gold on AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll
Lancaster, Pa. – (3/3/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University junior attack
Josh Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) earned an
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll mention after totaling eight points (5 goal, 3 assists), 22 shots, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers in his starts versus Drew University (L, 6-17 on Feb. 26) and Arcadia University (L, 7-23 on Mar. 1). Devine recorded a goal, two assists, 11 shots, and a ground ball against the Rangers, then offered four goals, an assist, 11 shots, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers against the Knights.
Immaculata University graduate attack David Azzarano (Wayne, Pa.) was selected as the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Marywood University junior goalkeeper Colin Trainor (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. Devine was joined on the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University senior defenseman Aidan Lawrence (Mount Laurel, N.J.), Marymount University senior attack Bryan Maguire (Phoenixville, Pa.), Marywood University senior attack John Scibello (Glenolden, Pa.), as well as Neumann University junior attack Brendan Boschi (Litchfield, N.J.) and senior face-off Jake Methlie (Springfield, Pa.).
Drew University (2-1) controlled possession early in Wednesday’s affair and used an opening 3-1 (10:47) rush to put Gwynedd Mercy University (1-4) behind the ball. The deficit grew to 9-3 (3:11) for halftime, 12-5 (1:46) by the end of the third quarter, and 17-6 (1:01) at game's end. Senior attack
Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Devine recorded three points apiece, while senior goalkeeper
Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) made 18 saves, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers in the loss (1-3).
Gwynedd Mercy University continued their early-season home stand with Saturday's battle with 309 rival, Arcadia University (3-2). A strong wind swirled throughout the Athletic Complex for the duration of the afternoon and the Knights proved to be the better side as an 11-0 head start propelled the visitors to a 23-7 win. Senior attack
Richie Hughes (Turnersville, N.J.) scored the first Griffin goal on a man-up opportunity with 10:39 remaining in the second quarter, 11-1. Devine netted the second on another extra-man five minutes later, 11-2 (5:26), but the Red and Gold run was cut short as a persistent Arcadia University attack gave his brother all he, and the Gwynedd Mercy University defense, could handle. The younger Devine finished with a team-high four goals, an assist, 11 shots, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers, while the older recovered three ground balls and caused a turnover while making 24 saves in the loss (1-4).
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their home stand on Wednesday, March 5, when they host Widener University in a 7:00 p.m. Morgan's Message Night affair.
