Beinlich Titled AEC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, Ronn Recognized on Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (9/12/2022) – Freshmen, forward Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) and goalkeeper/defender Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) were both recognized on this week's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Soccer Report as they were respectively named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and a member of the Weekly Honor Roll. Beinlich led Gwynedd Mercy University to a 1-0-1 week with five of the Griffins eight goals in contests versus the University of Valley Forge (W, 6-0 on Sept. 8) and Clarks Summit University (T, 2-2 on Sept. 10). Meanwhile, Ronn split her time between the net and the Griffins' backline; she earned her first collegiate win and shutout with a full 90 minutes of net-minding versus the Patriots, before recording 10 saves in the second half the stalemate with the Defenders.

Gwynedd Mercy University (2-1-1) continued to display a potent offense with Thursday's 6-0 victory over the University of Valley Forge (0-3). Beinlich headlined the win with seven points; the impressive performance included her first collegiate hat trick (18:39, 21:30, 47:28) and an assist to freshman midfielder Dakota Fryns (Dracut, Mass.) on the game's initial tally (1-0, 17:58). Following the opening tally from Fryns, Beinlich scored the first two goals of her hat trick before freshman forward Jordyn Basile (Quakertown, Pa.) added a unassisted score to spur the Griffins to a 4-0 (23:35) halftime score. In the second half, the third Beinlich strike (5-0, 47:28) and a blast from graduate midfielder Megan Crammer (Riverside, N.J.) (6-0, 64:27) would cap the scoring for the Griffins. Ronn was the benefactor, earning her first collegiate win and shutout without recording a singles save.

Beinlich buried two more goals (46:22, 56:24) in Saturday's contest at Clarks Summit University (0-1-2), but the tallies were not enough to earn Gwynedd Mercy University a win in an eventual 2-2 tie. Despite a 28-15 shot deficit, the Griffins controlled the advantage for a good portion of the second half. Beinlich tied the contest with a penalty kick shortly after halftime (1-1, 46:22) and gave the Griffins the lead ten minutes later (2-1, 56:24) with an unassisted score. Unfortunately, a Defender goal in the 72nd minute served as the final tally of a 2-2 (71:23) stalemate. Ronn relieved senior Molly Fleming (Warminster, Pa.) in the second half and made 10 saves to keep the contest tied through the end of regulation.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex on Tuesday, September 13, when they host Lancaster Bible College for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
