GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA-- The Griffins Men's Soccer Team fell, 4-0, to Alvernia in the home opener Tuesday night.

The Crusaders got on the board early with a goal from Josh Wollaston assisted by Zach Wilson.  Not long after, Alvernia struck again when sophomore Tyler Arnold headed the ball past junior goalie Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J. / Phillipsburg).  The Crusaders would score one more time at 27:43, which would be the last goal of the first half.

The Griffins trailed the Crusaders in shots, 17-3, and corner kicks, 9-4.

Junior Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J. / Phillipsburg) and sophomore Ryan Oyola (Tabernacle, N.J. / Seneca) split time in net.  Gengaro closed out the first half with 4 saves and Oyola ended the second with 1. 

The Griffins will travel to Franklin & Marshall this weekend to play in the F&M/LVC Tournament.  Gwynedd will take on Wesley College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
