2014 CSAC Tournament First-Round Game
BOX SCOREIMMACULATA, PA. – Fourth-seeded Immaculata knocked out fifth-seeded Gwynedd Mercy, 18-12, in a first-round game of the 2-014 CSAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins looked to use a big second-half comeback but came up short in falling in the postseason contest.
Senior
Elizabeth Rand (Falmouth, Me./Catherine McAuley), junior
Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley), and sophomore
Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) each scored three goals respectively. Yori added a game-high three assists while junior
Sarah Lombardi (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) added a goal and a helper.
Things got off to a rough start as the Mighty Macs took a 7-1 lead after 10 minutes of play. IU would build their lead to 12-3 at the half.
Gwynedd would open the second half on fire, netting six-straight goals over a 9:56 span of the stanza to pull within 12-9. Immaculata would net three of their own. Yori's last tally came with just over 10 minutes to play made it 15-11 but IU used another three-pack of goals to finally pull away.
Danielle Lopez and Allison Jakavick had three goals apiece for the Mighty Macs (9-7), who move on to the semifinal round on Wednesday.
It would be the final game for the team's five seniors:
